2026 – Big Year for Remortgaging

2026 is set to be a big year for remortgaging.

Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.

Planning ahead is essential. Speak to me early to make informed decisions and secure the right options for your future.

My recent experience with a lender I wont name showed once again the benefit of a broker in comparison to going it alone. A case that should have been simple turned complicated when the lenders admin let them down, and they input wrong information about the overall term required for the mortgage. This made their systems stuck on needing retirement evidence when the clients correct mortgage term didn’t take them past retirement. Due to the system now saying this requirement even when they amended their error, the lenders underwriters were adamant they had to receive full pension details on a case that normally would fly through and wouldn’t listen to reason even though it was the lender themselves who caused this issue. Computer says no springs to mind!

As this is my job, I could afford to argue the case constantly with the lender, time being something clients can rarely afford. Due to relationships built with lenders Business Development Manager’s, I could call in assistance to try and help with this situation, again an exclusive tool in a broker’s locker. I had absolute confidence of knowing that any other case would have been approved much earlier due to the continued professional development any good broker should do. That makes me as knowledgeable as possible on the lenders criteria for borrowing, so it just wasn’t treating customers fairly that due to an admin error from the lender, my clients were being treated less favourably than another client would in the same situation. Due to all or this, and my persistence in continuing to speak to what seemed like brick walls, Eventually the lender sent that surprise email one morning saying Mortgage Offered, despite no new information from original application being received.

If your current deal is ending soon, now is the perfect time to explore what’s available. You can often book a new rate 6 months in advance with a new lender, or 4 months ahead with your current lender, both of which I can help you with.

Long live the broker!
